Research outputs of the 2025 Social Stratification and Social Mobility Survey (SSM2025) research group, based at the Institute of Social Science, The University of Tokyo.
The SSM survey is Japan’s longest-running nationally representative survey of social stratification and mobility. It has been carried out every ten years since 1955, and the 2025 survey is the eighth wave. The series makes it possible to trace how class structure, educational attainment, occupational careers, and intergenerational mobility in Japan have changed over seventy years.
